SUSAN SARANDON is Sophie
Susan Sarandon

Susan Sarandon, who has been making films for over thirty years, brings her own brand of sex appeal and intelligence to every role. From her début in Joe (1970) she went on to appear in such films as The Front Page (1974), The Great Waldo Pepper (1975), cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Louis Malle's controversial at the time Pretty Baby (1978). In 1980 she received her first Oscar nomination for Atlantic City, again directed by Louis Malle. Other Oscar nominations followed: for Bull Durham (1988), Thelma and Louise (1991) and Lorenzo's Oil (1992). She finally won the Academy Award in 1995 for her role as Sister Helen in Dead Man Walking opposite Sean Penn.

Other highlights of her extensive film career include The Witches of Eastwick (1987), Bob Roberts (1992), Little Women (1994), Stepmom (1998), The Banger Sisters (2002) and Shall We Dance (2004).

 
SAM NEILL is Craig, husband of Sophie
Sam Neill

Sam Neill first came to international attention when he played opposite Judy Davis in Gillian Armstrong's My Brilliant Career (1979). He went on to appear in horror classic The Final Conflict (1981) and as the title character in the television series "Reilly: The Ace of Spies". Since then he has been in constant demand to play roles in television and film in Australia and around the world.

His film credits include a number of Australian classics such as Fred Schepisi's A Cry in the Dark (1988) opposite Meryl Streep, Phillip Noyce's Dead Calm (1989) with Nicole Kidman, John Ruane's Death in Brunswick (1991), Jane Campion's Palme d'Or-winning The Piano (1993) opposite Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel, and popular box office hit, The Dish (2000). Most recently he appeared in Rowan Woods' Little Fish (2005) with Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving. His international films are numerous and include the mega blockbuster Jurassic Park (1993) and Jurassic Park III (2001) and the romantic comedy Wimbledon (2004).

 
EMILY BLUNT is Mara, work colleague of Craig
Emily Blunt

Newcomer Emily Blunt has appeared in a number of highly regarded UK television series such as "Boudicca", "Foyle's War" and "Henry VIII" opposite Ray Winstone.

She made her feature film début in Stephen Poliakoff's enchanting My Summer of Love (2004). Upcoming roles include The Devil Wears Prada, a fashionista-comedy with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, and The Snow Goose an adaptation of Paul Gallico's classic novel.

 
BUD TINGWELL is Sam, Sophie's father
Bud Tingwell

Charles 'Bud' Tingwell is one of Australia's best-loved actors and a veteran of the Australian film industry, appearing in over one hundred films. In 1946 Tingwell won his first film role in Smithy. He took on several roles over the next few years, increasing in stature, until he caught the attention of Hollywood in 1952 and won the part of Lt. Harry Carstairs in the film The Desert Rats alongside Chips Rafferty, James Mason and Richard Burton.

He was based in the UK during the 60s, working on television series such as "Emergency Ward 10" and the "Miss Marple" series and numerous feature films. In 1972 Tingwell returned to Australia and soon after won the role of Inspector Reg Lawson on the long-running television series "Homicide". This was followed by roles in a number of films including Breaker Morant (1980), Puberty Blues (1981), My First Wife (1984) and A Cry In the Dark (1988).

Although he has appeared regularly in television productions since the 70s, his film career underwent a revival when he played the (skilled) lawyer in the 1997 Australian box office hit The Castle. Since then he has appeared in The Craic (1999), The Dish (2000) and the lead in Paul Cox's romance, Innocence (2000) opposite Julia Blake. In 1994, he was presented with the prestigious Gold Logie Hall of Fame award. His next feature film role will be in Ray Lawrence's upcoming Jindabyne.

 
WILLIAM MCINNES is Jimmy, Mara's husband
William McInnes

William McInnes is one of Australia's most popular stage and screen actors. His leading roles in the television series "Sea Change" and "Blue Heelers" have made him a household name and mini-series "Shark Net" and "My Brother Jack" earned him widespread critical acclaim. He won a Variety Club Drama Award in 1997; two Australian Film Institute awards in 2001 - Best Actor in a telemovie for "My Brother Jack"; and Best Actor in a television series for "Sea Change". In 2001, he was also nominated for the public-voted Most Popular Actor and won two Logie awards for Most Outstanding Actor in 2000 and 2004.

His film roles include Do Or Die (2001), Dirty Deeds (2002), and the highly praised Look Both Ways (2005), which was written and directed by his wife, Sarah Watt.

McInnes released his first book, A Man's Got to have a Hobby, a memoir of his childhood, in 2005.

 
GEORGIE PARKER is Jen, work colleague of Craig
Georgie Parker

With two Gold Logies to her name there are few brighter stars in Australian television and theatre than Georgie Parker. Georgie's portrayal of Terri in the long running television drama, All Saints, won her the hearts of Australians - who already knew of her talents from roles in GP and A Country Practice.

Since finishing up on All Saints Georgie's star has continued to rise.

She has starred in Scenes from a Separation with the Sydney Theatre Company and Chapter Two at the Ensemble Theatre. She shot the tele movie Loss in Melbourne followed by The Step Father of the Bride. Georgie also hosts Fox Classics on Foxtel and presents Channel 7's Medical Emergency. She was recently delighted to be invited to become a regular presenter on Playschool.

 
JOANNA HUNT-PROKHOVNIK is Elly, youngest daughter of Sophie and Craig
Joanna Hunt-Prokhovnik

At only 10 years of age, Joanna has a number of credits to her name. Her first professional work was in TV commercials. The most memorable of these is the Natural Confectionary Company's "Chop It" campaign. Joanna soon progressed to film and TV work. She has worked on several short films, including the 2004 St Kilda Short Film Festival winning short And One Step Back, directed by Mark Robinson.

Joanna made her feature debut in Three Dollars, directed by Rob Connelly and featuring David Wenham, Frances O'Connor and Sarah Wynter. It was for this role that Joanna was nominated for an AFI for Best Young Actor in 2005. That year Joanna also worked opposite Susan Sarandon in Irresistible. Joanna is currently working on the ABC miniseries Bastard Boys, directed by Ray Quint.

 
LAUREN MIKKOR is Ruby, eldest daughter of Sophie and Craig
Lauren Mikkor

Making her debut acting performance, Lauren has a strong performing and musical background having trained in specialist groups within the Australian Girls Choir for the past 6 years. Lauren participated in the hugely successful Qantas TV advertising campaign, sang at the 2005 AFL grand final and has an upcoming role in the chorus in The Boy From Oz, starring Hugh Jackman.

Since 2004 Lauren's drama, musical theatre and performing skills have been refined by the Children's Performing Company of Australia.
